Game-Changing Gift from Eliud Owalo Foundation St Mary’s Yala
The spirit of basketball and community came alive this afternoon at St Mary’s School Yala, as the Eliud Owalo Foundation made a generous donation of new basketball kits to the school’s basketball team.
Representatives of the Foundation were joined on court by an all-star lineup of Kenyan basketball legends including Ronny Owino, Phillip “The Eagle” Omany, Ken K’Odula, George Omedo, Seth Madison, Dave Michael, and Evans Wanjara — all of whom laced up for a spirited exhibition match against the student team.
The event was more than just a handover. It was a full-court celebration of talent, mentorship, and heritage, as the legends engaged directly with the students — not only passing on the ball, but also invaluable experience and encouragement.
Speaking during the handover, representatives from the Eliud Owalo Foundation emphasised the importance of supporting grassroots sports and nurturing future talent through access to proper gear and mentorship.
The energy on the court was electric, and the game served as a powerful symbol of what’s possible when investment meets inspiration. For the young athletes of St Mary’s Yala, this was more than just a game — it was a masterclass in possibility.
